Is sailing expensive ?
No sailing isn’t that expensive, for a movie for two you could have a pleasant and memorable afternoon in a basic sailboat and if you have a higher budget you could get to sail on some of the world most international class of boats.
Do I need to know how to swim ?
If you are sailing in the bigger class of boats which are not dinghys (small boats) the knowledge of swimming is not compulsory as it is mandatory for non-swimmers to wear a life jacket. Life jackets are provided on all boats and its best to wear them for safety weather you know swimming or not.
For children who learn to sail in the optimist class knowing swimming is compulsory and so is wearing a life jacket
Can I take my kids with me on my first sail?
Yes for sure you can take your kids on the boat with you, if you feel they are sporty and open to such experiences and may enjoy being on the seas. Preferable age is 6years upwards. They will be given life jackets to wear which is compulsory.
Can I take bring some friends along for the sail ?
Yes, you can we can take groups of people sailing from 2 to 8 per boat.
What are the various sailboats I can choose from ?
We recommend the seabird class of boats as it is the most economical and gives you an amazing experience. At the same time Mumbai Harbor has access to many boats which are listed under Types of Boats. Each boat comes at a different cost structure.
Is a Instructor compulsory ?
Yes an instructor is compulsory as to acquire skillsets to take a boat from the moorings out and bring it back to the moorings and this requires some amount of practice and you would need to pass the Yachting Association of India helmsmanship test to take a boat out on your own.
How do I book a boat
The best way to book a boat is to send a whatsapp message to the designated number under Contact Us. We shall reply to all your queries. Once 50% non-refundable payment has made online we will meet you opposite the Taj at Jetty No. 5 and take you sailing.
How do I actually get into my booked boat ?
You will need to stand opposite the Taj Hotel at Jetty No. 5. Usually you will see an umbrella and some boat men (tindals) standing in dark navy blue uniform. Contact us via whatsapp and our instructor will come and meet you. The instructor will help you to get into a motor boat or dinghy to motor or row out to your designated boat. You just need to be a bit careful walking down the pier and getting to the boat and always at all point listen and follow the instructions.
What do I wear ?
Well you can just wear loose trousers, 3 quarter pants and tshirts. Any casual clothes are fine. Please avoid jewelry and uncomfortable shoes. Keds are best. A cap is always suggested and don’t carry luggage. A very light small backpack at the most for your mobile phone and change of clothes. Most often you will not get wet and return bone dry. But nature is unpredictable so carrying a change of clothes is always advised.
Can we do ovenight sails ?
Yes of course you can do overnight sails at extra costs and all necessary permissions and we would be happy to plan your excursion and highly recommend it as such holidays are the most memorable. Being at sea on any night is being very close to the infinity. The night filled starry skies, the sunsets and sunrises make living on this planet truly beautiful and memorable.
